Boise Massage Therapy at Active Health and Wellness Center

massage therapy at active health and wellness

Here at the Active Health and Wellness in Boise, our motto is: Be Active, Be Healthy, 4-LIFE! Massage therapy is an important part of our programs and is an extremely effective counterpart to our chiropractic treatments. Our chiropractor, Dr. Jason Watson wants all of his patients to live life to the fullest, which it is impossible to do if you are suffering from back pain, joint pain, headache or any other illness.

There are many health benefits associated with both chiropractic care and massage therapy, such as pain relief, improved healing, muscle relaxation, and reduced stress. Massage activates all the soft tissues, including the skin, which is the body’s largest organ. It also helps to release toxins that are trapped in the tight soft tissues of the neck and back. The use of massage promotes tissue regeneration and healing and helps to reduce scar tissue and stretch marks. It is also an effective treatment for chronic headaches and often reduces the need for oral pain medications. At the same time, a massage increases your circulation, which increases blood flow to the lymphatic system, one of the most important systems in the body for boosting immunity and preventing disease. In addition, the improved circulation releases endorphin production and increases the blood flow to all of your vital organs.

If you are suffering from an injury or your muscles are sore from overuse, massage therapy will help to relieve your muscle tightness, promote healing and reduce the formation of scar tissue. Our chiropractor believes that massage also enhances the effectiveness of his treatments. It's also amazing for making tired and overused muscles feel better and avid sports enthusiasts swear by massage therapy for helping them prepare for and recover from grueling sports activities.

Massage is also exceptionally good for helping with stress management. Stress has been linked to all types of illnesses including back pain and headache. Regular massage helps with both stress and pain management. Lowering your stress levels will increase your overall wellness and vastly improve your quality of life by reducing anxiety, improving your energy, improving your concentration and enhancing the quality of your sleep. The overall result is reduced fatigue and a dramatically better quality of life. Regularly scheduling a massage is a small thing you can do for yourself that can have large, lifelong health benefits.

Boise Massage Therapy: Will it hurt?

Massage therapy should not hurt beyond a mild aching caused by the application of pressure to sore and tense muscles. The therapist can always adjust the pressure and massage, neck pain, back pain, relief, treatmentintensity of the massage. Please let her know if the pressure is too strong.

During the therapy you will be draped with a linen sheet. Our therapist will uncover and work on parts of your body separately and then she will recover the area after she has worked on it. Your comfort is our primary concern, so please tell the therapist if you are too hot or too cold. After the massage it is important to liberally drink water to help flush the toxins out of your body. You may feel some soreness for a day or two after your massage. Taking either a hot bath or a hot shower can relieve any after-therapy aches or soreness. After a few days you should feel wonderful, relaxed and invigorated!
