Boise Chiropractor Combines Chiropractic Care and Massage Therapy for Ultimate Pain Relief

Posted on 2011-11-16 12:02:06

Massage therapy complements Boise chiropractic care.jpgMassage therapy is one of the many services offered from our Boise chiropractor and his staff. Massage therapy is an important companion to chiropractic care.  While chiropractors deal with the nervous system providing vertebral alignments and lining up other joints, massage therapists work on the muscular skeletal system by relaxing tense muscles and working the deep tissues to help heal tissue damage.

Massage can extend the benefits of chiropractic adjustment by decreasing muscle tension and increasing flexibility.  Chiropractic adjustment can also extend the benefits of massage by providing long lasting pain relief instead of the temporary relief from just massage alone.  Massage and chiropractic care together provides pain relief, improves healing and muscle relaxation as well as reduces stress.

Massage Therapy Has Many Advantages

Massage is not just for relieving neck and back pain. It has many other benefits including a positive impact on the circulatory system.  The circulatory system affects every system in the body so when blood is flowing properly and carrying oxygen to vital organs different parts of the body it is increasing the body’s ability to heal and regenerate.

Another advantage of massage therapy is that it is an effective treatment for chronic headaches; massage can often replace the need for oral medication. Massage therapy can benefit personal injury patients by relieving tightness in muscles, promoting healing and reducing the formation of scar tissue.

Our Boise chiropractor and his highly trained massage therapists will work to give you long lasting pain relief and quality care.  Our therapists are dedicated to providing you with comfort and relaxation. They are gentle and will communicate throughout the massage to make sure you are not feeling any discomfort.

Working together our chiropractor and massage therapists will compose an individual care plan for you that will aid in pain relief and get you on track to achieving the total body wellness you deserve.  Chiropractic care and massage offer many benefits on their own but together they are the ultimate pain fighters.

If you are experiencing back pain, neck pain or any other skeletal discomfort then visit our chiropractic office at Active Health and Wellness and let our staff help relieve your pain and get you on the road to recovery.

What are some positive experiences you have had with massage therapy?

What is Causing my Back Pain?

Top Three Causes of Back Pain Seen by Our Boise Chiropractor

If you suffer from back pain, you are certainly not alone. It is one of the most common reasons people visit us at Active Health & Wellness. Our Boise chiropractor, Dr. Jason Watson provides treatments for pain in the upper or lower back with every treatment plan tailored to each back painindividual patient. Our treatments not only help alleviate the pain, but they also determine the root cause of the pain so we can correct it. Although pain in the back is widespread enough for the Mayo Clinic to note most people will suffer from it at least once in their lives, the causes are not as varied. We consistently see three of the most common causes of back pain crop up, again and again.

Chiropractic Care Alleviates Pain and Corrects the Cause of Pain

Injuries are probably the most common cause of pain in the back. Sprains, strains and spasms can come from overuse, improper or heavy lifting, sports mishaps, or simply twisting or bending in an awkward direction or manner. Pain from an auto injury is very common, especially when a violent thrusting of the neck leads to injured ligaments from whiplash.

Structural problems are another cause of pain. These include chiropractic issues such as bulging or herniated discs, sciatica, and abnormal curvature of the spine and conditions like scoliosis. We have also seen consistent poor posture and subluxations, which are misalignments of vertebrae, lead to pain, usually in the upper back. The lower back can also be affected by pain from arthritis, specifically osteoarthritis that affects the joints, as well as osteoporosis, which can result in fractures in your vertebrae if they become brittle.

Stress rounds out the top three reasons of pain in the back. Your muscles tighten when you are under stress, leading to soreness and trigger points. Stress can also cause pain if you overweight, from the stress of the extra load on your bones. We can create a custom weight management program as well as advise on lifestyle changes to help reduce stress and get you to your goal weight.

Have you ever suffered from pain in your back? What was the cause?

Healthy Eating Tips

Posted on 2011-09-16 23:00:26

fitness_nutrition_med.jpgAt Active Health and Wellness in Boise, we know that proper nutrition is one of the key elements to well-rounded wellness and weight management strategy. Our chiropractor, Dr. Jason Watson, knows that managing the nutrients that our bodies receive is imperative for it to function at peak performance. Here are some tips to help your body get all the nutrients it needs for you to live a life of well-being.

Healthy Eating Tips from Our Chiropractic Clinic

Omega-3 fatty acids. The nutritional value of consuming a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids are too numerous to list. Despite their overwhelming nutritional benefit, many people do not consume enough salmon, walnuts and flax seed to make a difference in their diet. At our clinic we suggest Antartic Krill Oil as an omega-3 fatty acid supplement.
Eat a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. Sadly, most people turn to salty, fatty and carbohydrate laden foods before they will choose leafy greens or bright, fresh fruit. Yet it is the fruit and vegetables that provide your body with the fiber, natural sugar and nutrients that it cannot get elsewhere.
Drink plenty of fluids. Water should be your drink of choice, but unfortunately too many people still rely on caffeine and carbonated beverages. While there are some small nutritional benefits to having a small amount of coffee each day, supplementing your diet with fruit juice instead of water is just adding calories to your diet without any of the fiber that is found in fruit.
Watch your portion size. It is not just at fast food restaurants where we see super-sizing going on. Even in our own kitchens, plates are being loaded up with far more food than the average person needs at a meal. Consider eating your meal from a smaller plate to limit your portion size, or fill your plate as you normally would, then remove half of it before eating. Limiting portion size is one of the best weight management strategies available. Our Boise chiropractor can show you what proper portion sizes are if you are in doubt.

Our bodies need proper nutrition to thrive, but getting it is not always easy. Hopefully these tips will help you find your path to a healthy diet, but if you have more questions, please do not hesitate to call us.
